The DC-1 is a traditional-style drill/tap machine with a 10,000-rpm BT30 spindle and high-speed turret-style tool changer to minimize cut-to-cut times and shorten cycle times. Choose the optional 15,000-rpm or 20,000-rpm spindle to cut production times even further. The compact footprint and rear chip discharge of the DC-1 allow machines to be placed side-by-side to maximize floor space, and pr...

So stupid, that should not be necessary.
That ring at the top of the probe stylus is ingenious...! Holy cow. Save the probe body.
i usually dwell by p100 regardless of the spindle speed, i probably should reduce it sometimes
That's fun to do with golf balls
Color of the drill in Video: gold, color of drill on website dark 🧐
The tool in the video is likely a prototype with a TiN coating.
@@theofficialczex1708 you are probably right. But can t Haas just show the exact same tool? - don’t misunderstand me, I already tested some of there tools and some of them are ground solid and price/performance level is pretty good for some of their tools
Great!
$50 for a single drill bit.
For $30 you can get a non-TSC #7 in carbide with TiAlN coating from McMaster-Carr, so this isn't a crazy price, especially for something that'll be used in the average US machine shop so often (being the tool to obtain 75% thread engagement for a 1/4"-20).
FYI if you have newer controller they don’t even allow you to adjust the angle. They make you call them so then can come and charge you to unlock and change it a degree. They have turned into a bunch of crooks.
Who are you trying to convince? 5 Axis is awesome but you are making a "baby" part! The Vf4 can make a lot bigger part. Sure, there is a machine for everything and if you lucky like titan you make enough parts to buy the machine.
If it's 2024 and you're watching this, the answer is to go to the machine page > Machine Info tab > Technical Documents and it will appear under that.
It's steel, so why don't you cool it with compressed air, but use coolant from time to time, which causes the tools to experience thermal noise?
That’s awesome. ! I’m a one man show as well. I wish you continued success my friend.
Thank you, now I ight save few taps, time and nerves in future.. Even if I'm so called hobbyist I need to make and repair threads Just not get bottom tapping taps yet in all sizes.
Stupid question why not start tapping with the strongest pull it out and finish with the weak one so you put less force in it?
Not all chips are the same some are kettle cooked some are wavey some are even triangular lastly they also have some in cans
I bet this guy plows alot of snow
Do you know how to convert the feedrate to degrees per minute.
Эффект Магнуса - знакомая штука. А еще можно взять шарик (я использовал алюминиевый) и подавать на него струю воздуха вертикально снизу - он тоже будет левитировать
recalibrating a probe is easy... your probe calibration kit has been back ordered for 3 months 😮💨 btw is it fine if I just manually turn a cylinder piece on a lathe to use as a ring gauge? I don't think I have the means to measure to 0.0001" tho
Now everyone is going to try screwdriver or air tricks. Mark does not need magic. He is cool as is.
Coanda effect
Yeah, I'll just buy another Speedio................
It shows in any place of window
Mark is a cool dude, no doubt 😎
Awesome. 🤩 Can we get a list of the tools used in this video?
Now do it with the face mill
Might need a bigger air hose for that one.
Made in USA or China?
Love the shop brother! Nice work too, very high quality!
Hardinge Chucker
Oh BTW JC. I love your Harding chicken. Always wanted one but never did get one
Thanks for the very practical info
How much?
Haas vf4ss
Good information, especially for someone like myself to learn about the different systems used in machining. I have discovered that there are a lot of different types of collets depending on what you are holding. There are tool holder collets like most of the collets in this video. There are work holding collets like the 5C that are designed to hold a work piece instead of a tool. Then the ER collets that will hold both work pieces and tools. What you didn't mention was the R8 collets. Probably the most common collet system on small mills and there are a lot of them out here now. As I said, good information and I am looking forward to more from the series on the website.
Never been a fan of shrink fit holders. I will take a Hydraulic collet toolholder over shrink fit anyday. I know big difference in price but you get what you pay for.
Thanks for the info, David Cross.
❤
Go and design a boxway slantbed lathe. Forward this message to Gene ;)
Nice machine😊
I understand the idea of changing from inch to metric, its the "and back..." that leaves me wondering.
What is the m code for cycle start
Can cut down some cycle time by using Y-axis on that hex, run the whole profile in one shot. I just did that in an ST20Y yesterday.
I think they're maybe just trying to show it off?
Run your machine in the same units that your gages are in. Convert your print and inspection reports.
i'm just happy to see mark
Honestly, use whatever units you want and leave it. The controller isn't more accurate using one versus the other and it's just down to preference.
Awesome! What programming platforms do you use! I use Mastercam for the lathe and mills..learning to program mills now, 2D, will move to 3D afterwards.
Mastercam is the best for mills, especially if your doing 3D programming. Ive been a 3D programmer for 15 years been programming for 27 years but when it comes to programming lathes, all depending on what type of lathes u work with, we have Mazak lathes in our shop and programming right from the mazak using Mazatrol is so much easier and quicker than using Mastercam. But Mastercam for mills especially 3D is the way to go. Been in the trade 27years and still love my job.
Doesn't this also affect MZRP?
We have moved our MRZP data from macros to Settings, where the values are converted for us when we make a change to Setting 9 (In/mm). No worries there.
This is great to know. Good failsafe on the probe telling to to recalibrate before you can use it. If I ever have a metric print, I've always found that it's easier program and cut the part in inch mode and inspect to metric dimensions using digital micrometers and height gages than switch over CAM and the machine.
🙏💯🔥
Haas tip of the day has made me a better machinist thank you
